Coffee & Kareem

What to Know

Critics Consensus

An awkward blend of kid-friendly premise and thoroughly adult humor, Coffee & Kareem proves a distinctly unarresting odd couple comedy.

Katie Walsh Tribune News Service A profoundly irritating, cacophonous mess. Rated: 1/4 Apr 18, 2020 Full Review Steve Pond TheWrap Things quickly escalate into chaos and stay there, but they do so in ways that are not quite funny enough to make you forget the implausibilities or the way serious stuff is played for bad jokes. Rated: 1.5/5 Aug 28, 2022 Full Review Damian Levy DamianMichaelMovies.com The brand of humour relies on shock value, but every now and then it will hit you with something clever that comes along like a slice of pizza in the middle of a low carb diet. Rated: Catch It On Cable May 27, 2021 Full Review Nick Levine NME (New Musical Express) Coffee & Kareem's predictable twists involving bent cops and gangsters who aren't as tough as they seem are reasonably entertaining, but it's difficult to shake the suspicion that this film is fundamentally misjudged. Michael A It was hard for me to find the stars at first but I think I found the right score. The humor is there but it shows up a little later in the movie, then it rolls. There are some hilarious scenes if you give the movie enough time to get past a really mouthy kid. This kid was too much for me at first but with Ed Helms and Betty Gilpin in the movie, I gave it an honest chance that paid off. And I mean it. When the humor kicks in, it stays on that level. Don't miss out on this one just because a lot of other reviews are calling it a hot mess. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/25 Full Review Audience Member Very funny film didn't much care for the action and protagonist but a good comedy undoubtedly. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/25 Full Review Birithivy Y Coffee And Kareem - 5.5/10. Ed Helms is a great comedic actor. He was one of the better comedic performers in The Office, and became a comedic movie star thanks to the The Hangover trilogy. But the rest of his comedic movie career has been a hit or miss. Coffee and Kareem is a miss, but not necessarily a bad movie. As a comedy movie, the jokes are a little crass. When it strictly relies on humour based on the situations that characters are in, the movie works well. As for the action, the movie follows suit with director Michael Dowse's previous film Stuber. The film follows the traditional buddy comedy format along with the good cop versus the bad system formula. The movie works when the movie focuses on the action portions, but fails a little when it tries to be a comedy film. The performances are decent, but nothing to write home about. At times, some of the scenes just feel too forced and trying too hard to entertain. As a movie, it entertains at times and is a quick watch. If you need something to kill the time, then go and try watching this film! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/28/24 Full Review Shimul A This is the funniest thing I've seen in a while. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/20/24 Full Review Shane M This is movie is funny as hell. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/22/23 Full Review chase l this movie is fucking terrible they should have shot the black lady its not a race thing but she is so fucking annoying. The best part in the movie is when her son shoots her ass with the taser when she wouldn't shut the fuck up. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/07/23 Full Review Read all reviews
