Marc Z It has been a long time since worthwhile films have been exported from Greece. This one was filmed in 2016 at the start of a turn around in the an attempt by Greece's film industry to compete worldwide. This Well Go USA released Greek export is a thriller about a lawyer with an anger management problem, hence the title, who becomes the victim of a revenge plot against his family of lawyers. This plot doesn't merely involve the main character, Aris's death, but involves his punishment in a variety of tribulations. The film is fast paced and fun to watch. It is low budget film, for sure. The acting, script, and cinematography reflect that, but that is also part of the charm. This is a fun movie and, especially fun, if you are. Greek American looking for content out of Greece. The characters are very Greek, and very much fun to watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/21/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a Planet of the Apes reunion in the crime thriller Short Fuse. Planet of the Apes series alumni Roddy McDowall, James Gregory, and William Windom star in this tale of an ambitious playboy who seeks to take over his family's company by killing his uncle in an apparent car accident, but when explosives are found in the debris homicide detective Lt. Columbo must find the killer. While Roddy McDowall gives a good performance, his character is poorly written. Additionally, the directing is rather mediocre and doesn't bring a lot of suspense or tension to the film. Short Fuse is a solid murder mystery, but the film craft has some weaknesses. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a very entertaining Columbo in which it almost seemed at times that the killer was going to get away with it. This was certainly in part to the great job that Roddy McDowall does playing the part of Colombo's foil. A super intelligent but very eccentric character, McDowall gives Colombo one of his more difficult foils to date and plays him to perfection. Throw in Ida Lupino as the Aunt and you get a great episode. I found the ending a little weak but everything else was great. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A young executive who is being forced out of his family company murders his uncle in a car explosion, only to meet his match in the form of shabby detective Lt. Columbo. An early entry into the Columbo case files, Short Fuse is actually one the less memorable examples. A young and flamboyantly dressed Roddy McDowall hams it up mercilessly in the role of the unscrupulous playboy and none of the rest of the supporting characters are particularly interesting. In fact, the story seems to revolve completely around McDowall as we see far too little of the ever reliable Peter Falk whose usual cat and mouse game with his suspect is far less involving than usual and the plot very generic and straightforward leading to an unconvincing climax. Falk's presence means it's still a cut above the usual TV fare, but dated, gimmicky direction and an unimaginative plot means that there have been many, many better episodes than this. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Roddy McDowall and Ida Lupino in a Columbo episode. That just can't go wrong. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Season 1 Episode 6. When the CEO of a chemical plant is killed by his nephew Roger using an explosive device in his limo, Columbo is assigned to investigate the incident and prove that it was no accident.
