John Leonard New York Magazine/Vulture ... happily brings back not just Peter Falk, who at the age of 73 is older than his raincoat, but also Patrick McGoohan, who starred in a couple of memorable Columbos and who co-writes and directs this one... Feb 6, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Donald A "Da fish! Da fish!" The second-to-last Columbo episode contains the love of movie scores abound. Unfortunately, its ending is set up for greatness, and it fails miserably. Quite honestly, this might be the only Columbo film in which the murderer probably wouldn't be convicted in reality. The whole film was nearly perfect, and probably would have ended up being one of the greatest episodes of all time if the ending wasn't so anticlimactic. Otherwise, the execution of the film directed by Patrick McGoohan and Peter Falk are solid. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/10/23 Full Review Audience Member The penultimate thriller in the Columbo series, Murder with Too Many Notes is a suspenseful mystery that has a comedic edge. The story follows award winning music conductor Findlay Crawford who kills his understudy after he threatened to expose Crawford's plagiarism; but Crawford's plan runs afoul when Lt. Columbo notices some things that don't add up. Billy Connolly gives a wonderful performance and makes for an intriguing villain for Columbo to match wits with. And while Peter Falk looks a little worn, he's able to incorporate that into his character and gives Lt. Columbo a new energy. Well-crafted and entertaining, Murder with Too Many Notes is an impressive crime drama. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm a Columbo addict... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Falk is looking rather aged here, and the murder is not that clever, though Connolly (looking like real-life composer Michael Kamen here) shows he can do dramas effectively. Regular actor McGoohan’s direction not the best, either. Penultimate Columbo story for now. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review david h There are way to many of these, and I have seen them all. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Billy Connolly makes for an amusing villain, but a confusing last minute sorta drags it down.
