Dennis Harvey Variety Blandly earnest drama of a young gay man trying to raise his little brother after they're orphaned plays like an After-School Special... Jun 22, 2006 Full Review Kevin Thomas Los Angeles Times The Conrad Boys has moments that play well, but it remains to be seen whether Lo has what it takes to be a successful filmmaker. Rated: 2.5/5 Jun 6, 2006 Full Review Dan Avery Out Magazine The acting and plotting are somewhat clumsy, but Lo’s drama is a rare heroic portrayal of gay youth. May 25, 2022 Full Review Ted Murphy Murphy's Movie Reviews For a first feature, THE CONRAD BOYS is well-made andengrossing. Rated: B+ Jul 14, 2007 Full Review Don Willmott Filmcritic.com vapid Rated: 2/5 Aug 22, 2006 Full Review David Elliott San Diego Union-Tribune Both very personal and very generic. Along with square camera setups and flat lighting, it has no going subtext except anxiety. Rated: 2/4 Jun 23, 2006 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Great Film, I really was taken back by this movie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member First feature from writer-director Justion Lo. Let's hope it's his last one, too. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member The acting in "The Conrad Boys" is absolutely awful, and the story is boring. That's all that needs to be said, really. Nick Bartzen gives some much needed light to the movie, but without him I'd probably give it zero stars. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Saw Conrad Boys (2006) online via Netflix. A heartfelt, engaging film directed, produced, edited by-and even starring-Justin Lo, who must be a remarkable talent to have created this marvel at 24. Like Big Eden, it's is a gay-themed relationship film where the supportiveness of family and friends is taken for granted and the word gay is never used. I hope Lo has completed graduate school, is working on his next film, and can get wider release for it than for Conrad Boys. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member It's such an earnest and well meaning film. However, I couldn't get past the poor acting. For a film to work, it can't be lacking in a major area such as this. It has some slow stretches as well. There was too much obvious symbolism, the score is too ordinary. Good effort, just didn't quite make it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
