Ngo definitely has the juice as a director of hide-your-eyes horror setpieces. But while Control Freak benefits from plenty of worthwhile ingredients, it still isn’t fully cooked, making it a mid-range effort in the realm of straight-to-streaming horror.

This was a great modern horror / thriller. Moody, eerie, and deranged in all the right ways. The last half in particular was a thrill to watch. Great acting showcase for Kelly Marie Tran, and director Shal Ngo is one to watch!!

Doesn't work for me with all the sound and fury, tropes, no plot, just a worsening series of events because of the parasite you already know about, and very thin attempt to make it all mean something. I barely got through it.

Thought the acting by Kelly Tran was terrific. She definitely carried the film. I really didn’t enjoy the acting from the guy that played her husband. It’s beautifully shot. Would have been cool to see flashbacks of when the dad was younger. If you like stranger things or the babdook, this will be right up your alley. Warning: it can make your skin crawl in some scenes, but i guess that’s the point.
