When her older brother Kenny (Sam Rockwell) is convicted of murder and sentenced to life in 1983, Betty Anne Waters (Hilary Swank) vows to get the conviction overturned. Beginning an 18-year quest to exonerate Kenny, Betty Anne puts herself through college and law school. With the help of her best friend (Minnie Driver), Betty Anne pores over piles of suspicious evidence and retraces the steps that led to Kenny's arrest in the hope of finally winning her brother's freedom.

Sappy but solid true life story of a sister that spends her life proving her brother's innocence. Swank and Driver team up during law school to hunt down the innocence project and find DNA evidence that proves a wrong conviction.

Minha opinião: Um drama forte. Onde o irmão de Hilary, Sam é condenado a prisão perpetua. Onde é acusado de assassinar uma mulher. Sua irmã Hilary para provar a inocência do irmão, entra em uma faculdade de direito para poder provar que ele é inocente. Se forma como advogada e reabre o caso. O irmão tem uma filha que ele sempre envia cartas, mas nunca é respondido. Hilary vai atraz de provas e testemunhas que possam salvar seu irmão. Consegue ajuda de repórteres que apoiam sua versão. Encontra uma testemunha que diz que foi persuadida a dar falso testemunho, porém quando é dito para ela testemunhar no tribunal ela foge. Até que através de provas de DNA e a ajuda da sobrinha Hilary que sempre pensou que seu pai era um assassino descobre que não. Então ela persuadi sua mãe a falar a verdade. E no tribunal provam a inocência de Sam. Depois deste fato vários presidiários conseguiram provar sua inocência através do teste de DNA. Um história verídica. Boa atuação Hilary uma atriz a ganhar 2 Oscares. E boa atuação de Sam. Roteiro: Bem feito Vale apena assistir? Sim com certeza Nota: 7,5
