Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times It's the kind of pleasant, sometimes funny, fairly entertaining film that you can never quite remember very well, because even the filmmakers themselves haven't seen it very clearly. Rated: 2/4 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Terry Francis Southern Voice (Atlanta) Cookie hasn't much to recommend it apart from Wiest's performance. May 9, 2023 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) An apathetic comedy about the mafia, inferior to similar works. [Full review in Spanish] Jul 12, 2022 Full Review Ryan Murphy Miami Herald Cookie has the look and feel of a cartoon. And that, unfortunately, is why it crumbles. Rated: 2/4 Aug 17, 2021 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews Watchable yet entirely disposable... chris z Wow this film so stupidly underrated. It's a comedy- i'm not sure reviewers understood that. It's also sweet and smart. Caught on tcm at tail end of Jerry Lewis day. (Small role but he’s great) But stars abound and great work by all, except maybe the mostly irritating score. Looks great. I love everyone. Dianne Wiest has never been better. Emily Lloyd and Peter Falk are great pair Screenplay is sharp and underwritten beautifully. The stuff about the news coverage of mob is so familiar from growing up in Philly but I can’t remember seeing it in another film. So nice to find a non Woody Allen NYC film from that era that I can feel great about. (I hope I don’t learn something awful about Susan Seidelman now) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/18/24 Full Review Sascha B A delightful little movie. Not high cinema, but extremely entertaining on a Sunday afternoon. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/05/24 Full Review Audience Member What the **** were they thinking?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Considering the high bar Seidelman set with Smithereens and Desperately Seeking Susan, Cookie feels like an unsatisfying step back. While her first two features boasted highly original characters and freshly compelling stories, Cookie merely registers as late 80s fluff. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Gangster returns home from prison only to discover his teen daughter is much like himself. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member feels very fluffy & sugar sweet Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
