See more walter m @Harlequin68 12/10/2010 In "Could This Be Love?", on his return from a business trip to England, Lucas(Vincent Lindon), a busy chief executive, becomes smitten with Elsa(Sandrine Bonnaire), an artist who is employed to create a fresco for his lobby. Since Lucas has trust issues due to a calamitous affair some years before which led to depression which led to a precipitous drop in the price of his company's stock, he puts his security chief, Roland(Francois Berleand), on the case to find out if she is sincere... "Could This Be Love" is an amusing and old-fashioned screwball comedy(Think "That Touch of Mink") that has a promising first half before collapsing into a predictable heap in the second. And since I don't believe in love at first sight, it does ask for a suspension of disbelief. What may possibly save the movie are the very strong performances of the lead actors. The movie does not warrant a direct Marxist analysis but does accidentally brush up against the important issue of corporate ethics and how responsible a company's president is for the overzealousness of his employees. On a personal level, Lucas' money permits him to be isolated from the world around him. Therefore, he misses out on the fun of getting to know someone interesting for the first time.
