Nicolas Rapold New York Times Might have been better off in a kid's-size portion as a short. Rated: 2/5 Mar 14, 2013 Full Review Chuck Bowen Slant Magazine It's eventually obvious that Cory McAbee mistakenly believes that his characters' resolutely dull adventures speak for themselves. Rated: 1/4 Mar 14, 2013 Full Review Zachary Wigon Village Voice Clocking in at just 51 minutes, Crazy and Thief nevertheless could have been a great deal shorter. Mar 12, 2013 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens A light and lilting narrative at the 2012 Los Angeles Film Festival that just steals my heart is Crazy & Thief, an instant charmer that will make you heart smile and have you grinning from ear to ear. Nov 26, 2019 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com Crazy and Thief is an hour long musical fantasy that may try your patience if you aren't particularly fond of watching aimless children or experimental nepotism. Jul 24, 2019 Full Review David Noh Film Journal International There's no reason in the world why this father's loving tribute to his own two kids should be as uncannily riveting or delightful as it is. Audience Member really enjoyed it, Cory McAbee's got a real good brain. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member At first it seems a simple and indulgent film. However, it gathers pace and is winningly acted. It is a groundbreaking film in its use of children and it pays worthy and unusual attention to them. We are presented with a child's view of the world in gorgeous images, and lingering scenes. Editing, music and script make this another winner for visionary auteur, McAbee (Stingray Sam). Clever and fun. A gem. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Bit cute for a while. Huge pacing issues, awful music, and general lack of interest--walked out.
