Brett C Stupid waste of time Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/30/23 Full Review Sean M I liked this movie. Good acting and didn't see the twist ending coming at all. Would certainly recommend! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/29/23 Full Review kevin c A group of friends get back together after the funeral of a friend and after a failed group investment plan leaves them owing a mob boss money. He offers them a way to wipe the slate clean with one illegal favor. John Travolta plays the mob boss. The guys in debt to him are played by Michael Pitt, Dan Stevens, Christopher Abbott and Rob Brown. Decent little crime caper. Directed by Jackie Earl Haley. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Pulp Fiction meets Usual Suspects. good acting, great writing, great narrative , twists and turns. Ending really blew me away, Underrated for sure. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member There's nothing remotely new about this movie, but the concise pace and overrated cast manages to keep things going. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I think this is an underrated movie. Sure, it's not the best movie I've ever seen, but it is definitely worth watching more than once. The plot twist at the end was crazy; very well done. It is certainly something you'll remember. Usually movies have a hard time concealing hints that make it pretty easy to predict the ending of a movie, but this film did a great job to preserve the twist at the end. I definitely didn't see it coming. The way the plot unfolds can, at times, seemed rushed or too drawn out; but overall, I don't think that takes away from being able to enjoy this movie. Great acting, as well, especially from Dan Stevens (Noah) and Jackie Earle Haley (Gerry and also the director of the movie). Fionnuala Halligan Screen International Its combined cast has an all-ages appeal, although Robert Lowell's screenplay struggles to drive through 94 minutes. Nov 20, 2015 Full Review Soren Andersen Seattle Times "Criminal Activities" is a sneaky, snaky little crime thriller with some pretty impressive plot twists. Rated: 3/4 Nov 20, 2015 Full Review Michael Rechtshaffen Los Angeles Times Haley whips it into something reasonably entertaining even as you start thinking about how truly great "Get Shorty" and Travolta's Chili Palmer were midway through those double-crossing criminal activities. Nov 19, 2015 Full Review Kiko Martinez San Antonio Current The screenplay piles it on with extra storylines, all of which give no nuance to the characters or make any of the conflict more exciting or original. Rated: C Jan 26, 2018 Full Review Marija Djurovic Cairo360 While it seemingly draws on the likes Tarantino's Pulp Fiction and True Romance, there's still something alluring and awfully inviting about Jackie Earle Haley's lively and intriguing directorial debut, Criminal Activities. Rated: 3/5 Mar 28, 2016 Full Review Betty Jo Tucker ReelTalk Movie Reviews An exciting revenge thriller enhanced by 'Pulp Fiction' vibes and a fascinating -- but quirky -- performance by Dan Stevens (as you've never seen him before).
