Audience Member I saw the video in the library and the box advertising certainly made the movie sound good, as well as the all-star cast listed. But on bringing it home and watching it, neither my mother or I cared for it or bothered to see it to the end. There were hardly any laughs and the whole thing was basically unappealing. Perhaps the play it was based on was much better. But theater critic Parker was simply a mean-spirited and unlikable man, destroying theater productions by his bad reviews, being obnoxious to family and friends, sneering at his wife's creative efforts, yet expecting people to like him anyway. He also attaches too much importance to his job, saying he would lose his self-respect if he didn't review things as he did. If Lucille Ball, who played his wife, acted as she did in her other roles, she would have reacted far more strongly to him. This is one of the dullest performances of her career. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Lucille Ball and Bob Hope are amazing in this! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member ***Due to the recent RT changes that have basically ruined my past reviews, I am mostly only giving a rating rather than a full review.*** Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Worth watching just to see 1963 fashion, decore , hairstyles , womans makeup, motor cars, a road trip back in time Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member i was a bit disappointed in this movie, and initially i expected it to be from a slightly earlier era. early-lucille ball moves are awesome, and she is stunning, and quite a good actress this movie had a fairly thin plot, but what was most distracting was that lucy clearly was pregnant during filming, although an early scene at home with hope, her and the son, had them discussing why lucy still hadn't gotten pregnant (competition between 'angie' & 'ivy'). in that very scene, it was clear that lucy was wearing early-60's early-term maternity clothes. and for the next couple of scenes, but then suddenly, she's in a sleek dress .... later on she's clearly further advanced and clearly in maternity clothes (all the other women around her are in stylish, fitted dresses with tiny fitted jackets, but she's wearing a huge, swingy maternity ensemble. maybe if the plot had been more intriguing or maybe if one or both of hope/ball had not phoned it in, lucy's maternal status would not have felt so prominent. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member A interesting film. Ball and Hope's final film together. Had funny moments but overall could have been better.
