Recomendable. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Benedik Fliegauf does a great job creating the feel of living in a routine state of anxiety before drawing to a nigh inevitable end (the aftermath of which is still dealt with respectfully but matter-of-factly). Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Glacially paced, sometimes inert, but increasingly poignant look at persecution of Romanis. Compelling, if grim. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member A village in Hungary inhabited by a Romany community has been haunted by random acts of racist violence. Four families have been slaughtered, there is fear in the air. Based on true events, "Csak a szél" gives us a documentary-like depiction of one single day in the Roma village. Director Bence Fliegauf follows one family, illuminating the difficulties they face in everyday life. The village is restless and oppressive, the people coping in extreme poverty. The mother of the family faces racism and sexual harassment at work. Fliegauf uses handheld cinematography and flat lighting, presumably to grand the movie an air of authenticity. But ultimately the expression is left flat, the characters distant. There are a few strong scenes near the end of the film, but all in all it is barren, too colorless and too distant to feel real or reach you emotionally.
