Lorenzo R Great rhythm, brilliantly written. A mixup of qui-pro-quo, slamming doors, plots getting more and more intermingled. A great movie and a tribute to a great(er) play. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/12/23 Full Review Fong Kok Hoong F Inspired by SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE, Alexis Michalik wrote the play of the same title, dreaming up the happenstances that inspire French playwright Edmond Rostand to write the long beloved verse play Cyrano de Bergerac and this adaptation of his own play revels in ingenious writing and crowd-pleasing rambunctiousness. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/14/23 Full Review Audience Member If you like the play "Cyrano," you'll like this. If you also love "Shakespeare In Love" and "Finding Neverland," you'll adore it, Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Although it has probably nothing to do with the real story, it is a nice and funny tribute not only to the great work of Cyrano, but also theatre and creative process. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Just saw 'Cyrano, My Love' on Amazon Prime and I loved it. If you like plays and exploring how they are made and developed and the sacrifices made to produce them you will love this movie. On 27 December 1897, the curtain rose at the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin, and the audience was pleasantly surprised. A full hour after the curtain fell, the audience was still applauding. There were forty curtain calls until the curtain was finally left raised. It has been the most frequently presented play in France for over 100 years. I loved the play, but I liked this movie about it even more. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/20 Full Review Audience Member Not just an hommage, this movie is hilarious and beautifully written in it's own right, jumping between theatre and cinema with ease.
