Catherine Bray Guardian Damaged isn’t trying to be a meme, it’s playing things completely straight... That sincerity, and the apparent genuine commitment of top-tier performers like Jackson, is what makes this ripely absurd film at least half-worth watching. Rated: 3/5 Sep 5, 2024 Full Review Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter Unfortunately, [the ending isn't] nearly enough compensation for the roughly 90 minutes of tedium preceding it. Apr 11, 2024 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety “Damaged” is too efficiently handled to be dull, or even overtly bad — though viewers may find themselves rolling their eyes a bit after a while. Apr 11, 2024 Full Review Calum Baker Radio Times The murder scenes themselves are studiously grisly, though the film's overall visual style never rises above that of a TV drama. Rated: 2/5 Sep 13, 2024 Full Review Alistair Harkness Scotsman A stacked cast can’t stop Edinburgh-set serial killer thriller "Damaged" from looking like a pound shop "Seven". Rated: 1/5 Jul 11, 2024 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews The film’s main strength is in its great Scotland location shots. Rated: C+ Jul 5, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Jack R Simply awful. Terrible and predictable dialogue spoken with terrible ‘sanitised’ Scottish accents. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/25 Full Review Liam D Samuel L. Jackson (Def by Temptation) and Vincent Cassel (Jefferson in Paris) make for an surprisingly strong duo but it’s not a very compelling mystery Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/25 Full Review Jelisije J The twist was the only thing memorable about this film and the twist wasn't even that good. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/16/25 Full Review Karen Jones C I saw the bad reviews and wondered but now I know. It should work but either the director or editor failed it. Even cut up bodies nailed to a wall couldn’t save it and the plot which in theory could provide a twist is lacklustre and obvious. You are not left guessing at any twist or turn. I think in the olden days they called it ham acting to boot. I still love Samuel obvs despite the disappointment and hope the pay day was worth it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/11/25 Full Review Jan M This film was so bad, we even had to laugh at parts. Illogical conclusions, totally ridiculous crime and police tactics. The actors' emotions were inappropriate to the situation, embarrassing for the top-class actors Samuel and Vincent. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/02/25 Full Review Tim A The story is lacklustre; the whole thing is a made for TV 'Seven' at best. Capaldi seems to be acting his socks off, but this around him - those whose Hollywood credentials are impeccable - seem to phone it in. Sadly, you can literally spot the moment one leads loses interest in the project as his performance nose-dives. He'd probably done his Warburton's advert and was now just waiting for the flight home. The final scene is so obviously done as a pickup it's painful to watch. If you'd managed to suspend your belief for long enough to get that far, I'm sure that would finally break it completely. Not one to recommend; but I will commend completely Gianni Capaldi's dedication to his project and his efforts to keep the show on the road.
