Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand It's an elegant romantic drama where the deft stylistic touches.. are so gracefully incorporated that they (unlike some of his devices) arise organically from his storytelling. Aug 4, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

helder f Un carnet de bal. A woman, after her husband’s death, embarks on a journey to find the men who courted her at her ball, whose names she recorded on her dance card. This upper-class woman ventures into the past to, in great part, reclaim what belongs to her. Perhaps, for this reason, the movie doesn’t evoke as much emotional depth as it could if we focused solely on its primary premise. Nevertheless, it serves as a reminder that we are all living in the past, not only through memories but also through fantasies about missed opportunities. The movie’s conclusion, however, is somewhat disappointing. It feels like a consolation prize—an outdated solution. If the premise seems dramatic, it actually turns out to be more lighthearted. First, the protagonist doesn’t elicit much compassion. Second, there are even comedic moments throughout the film. It’s still a great movie to watch, offering poignant reflections on what was left on our dance card Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/14/25 Full Review Audience Member A woman who's husband has recently passed away has deep, nostalgic memories of the first ball she attended when she was 16 years old. She has saved her dance card and decides to look up all the men with whom she danced and visit them. Some of the encounters are bittersweet and nostalgic. Some are tragic. This is a deeply sophisticated and lovely romantic drama. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member One of those stories about revisiting your past, examining your regrets, saying "what if". A widow takes a journey from an Italian lake into her past, and finds of course that time has not stood still. She may have caused more than one suicide. In the end, she puts nostalgia away, and takes a tentative step into the future. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
