Marjorie Baumgarten Austin Chronicle Rated: 2.5/5 Nov 24, 2002 Full Review Marya E. Gates Cool People Have Feelings, Too. (Substack) A movie about female self-discovery that you will not long forget. Feb 12, 2024 Full Review Trey Graham, Lyn Stoesen, and Kristina Campbell Washington Blade Novaro does a more-than-commendable job of showing an intensely male-dominated world from a female point of view. Rated: 4/4 May 24, 2022 Full Review Amelie Lasker FF2 Media The soundtrack lends the film a feeling of joy and celebration. And although this is a tragic story, not a dance movie, the danzón as a theme feels like Julia reclaiming her joy. Feb 25, 2021 Full Review Malcolm Johnson Hartford Courant Novaro's story feels stale. Only the innocence and vivacity of her leading actress, Maria Rojo, keeps this slow-moving, thinly plotted tale alive. Audience Member Danzon is an excellent little independent film with no pretention but it's a fine entertainment, well acted, well written and beautifully shot. This is an interesting female orientated type of film, a film that shows and talk about women in an interesting way. Not feminist but rather feminine, the film portrays the emancipation of a woman who's willing to take a risk and get out of her comfort zone to follow a man but as time goes she finds herself emancipated and becoming slowly her own person and gains tremendous confidence along the way. Great film indeed. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review eric a I remember liking this movie very much! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member well this is a journey of self exploration and looking 4 love mixed with dancing kinda a mexican "stricly ballroom" or "take the lead" Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member ... todos los personajes son entrañables... sobre todo el Tito Vasconcelos, Carmen Salinas y Margarita Isabel... Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member I am in love of danzón...This is not an awesome movie but it is a pretty sweet one. The value of this movie is the way it interprets the dance, the way of dance dazón and all the flirtation that is behind the act of dancing. It is just wonderful. I think that there is a universe of analisis in this movie but i think personally i must polish it more to explain and understand all the codes inside it!!!!. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
