Jonathan Trotz (Hauke Diekamp) enrolls in a boarding school in frigid Leipzig, Germany, for what very well may be his last chance at successfully completing his primary school education. Jonathan befriends Nichtraucher (Sebastian Koch), a local eccentric who lives in an abandoned train car. After he joins the choir, Trotz -- once the perpetual outcast -- finds himself united with his new peers by a heated rivalry with a group of students from a neighboring school.
