Diane (Marcia Gay Harden) and Kate (Halston Sage) are not only mother and daughter but also best friends. Their lives are turned upside down, however, when Diane announces her engagement to a man named Bruce (Aidan Quinn), whom she's been secretly dating. In a series of comical events, Kate must come to terms with letting her mother be happy with someone else while she navigates her own love life and career aspirations. As Diane falls deeper in love, Kate worries that their close-knit relationship will be forever changed--and not for the better; so, she subconsciously tries to sabotage the wedding plans (despite officiating it). While Katie tries to get her mom to slow down and reconsider this obvious calamitous life decision, she finds herself falling for her handsome neighbor, Josh (Andrew Richardson)--the right guy at the totally wrong time.

Andrea Beach Common Sense Media This otherwise run-of-the-mill romantic comedy gets a little lift from the refreshing perspective of seeing the story through the strong mother-daughter relationship at its heart. Rated: 3/5 Jul 10, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Bonitinho... Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/24 Full Review Jeremy W A modern take on a classic filled with depleted morals, one night stands, and horrendous divorced parenting. Exactly what our culture doesn't need. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/24 Full Review Rebecca F I thought it was a cute picture of a beautiful relationship. It didn't take itself too seriously but had some serious moment that made absolutely worth the watch. I loved Halston Sage. Great movie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/06/23 Full Review Chris M Good acting is wasted by a boring plot. Nothing interesting happens in this movie. Outside of a couple of funny moments, this is not worth watching Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/31/23 Full Review Jenn J Cara Santana was awful Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/21/23 Full Review Debra D It was boring and predictable. The plot was disorganized and never really comes together. It lacked any sort of natural flow. That acting was just as bad as the story development. It didn't hold my attention. In fact, it was hard to remain engaged. I regret wasting $3.99 and part of my afternoon for this movie. Beyond that, it is apparent that Marsha Gay Harden is going through some sort of life crisis, trying to dress like she's in her 20s and wanting everyone to know her political views. I usually like her in movies and shows, but there is nothing to like about her acting in this one. I've watched soap operas with better acting, direction and storyline. Just being honest.
