joel h 01/17/2020 I'm a fan of Dave Barry's writing, and this movie definitely has his style of humor in it, but this feels like a poorly made late-night infomercial for his book instead of an actual, cohesive film. Even though the jokes are good, and the acting isn't completely terrible, the amateur style of filmmaking makes it feel cheap and even cringey at times. You're probably better off reading the book instead of watching the movie. See more 07/30/2011 "Dave Barry's Complete Guide to Guys" is pretty funny, but not very. It's not as witty or insightful as the book, and it tries to shoehorn in some weird story arc. It's odd. Everyone knows at least a few guys like the ones portrayed in the film. Many people have to deal with more of these guys than they'd care to. I think they would appreciate the humor in this movie. Quite frankly, this was a watered down, video version of the book that turned something that was really funny into something that beat you over the head with the same points over and over again.
