Stuart Jeffries Guardian Bowie was, for once, not master manipulator of sound and vision, not virtuoso of a thousand disguises, but something sweeter: unguarded boy with a broken heart. Rated: 4/5 Mar 7, 2019 Full Review Suzi Feay Financial Times Finding Fame is the third film in Francis Whately's Bowie trilogy, after David Bowie: Five Years and David Bowie: The Last Five Years and is by far the most intriguing. Rated: 5/5 Feb 13, 2019 Full Review Carol Midgley Times (UK) Any reality-show wannabe who expects instant fame and fortune after spending ten minutes on Towie should be forced to watch Francis Whately's exceptional David Bowie: Finding Fame. Feb 11, 2019 Full Review Benjamin H. Smith Decider David Bowie: Finding Fame covers much of the same ground as Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story and Bowie: The Man Who Changed The World, it's just much better done and more more enjoyable to watch. Aug 9, 2019 Full Review Victoria Segal Sunday Times (UK) Whately's documentary did excellent work in rolling up all these untidy loose ends, covering both Bowie's childhood and the astonishing 11 years it took for him to achieve unbreakable fame with Ziggy Stardust. Feb 11, 2019 Full Review Howard Male The Arts Desk It's a hypnotic, multilayered work that's never self-indulgent and always completely engaging. Rated: 5/5 Feb 11, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member The weakest effort in Whately's trilogy of Bowie documentaries by some distance. Perhaps because there is little that's new to present to the viewer or perhaps because by it's nature of focusing on Bowie's failures when trying to get started it's the subject matter of the least interest. At the end of the day I love Bowie and I was bored at times, and felt it was a good half an hour too long. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews
