Audience Member This film uncovers the stories of immigrants who travel undocumented through Mexico in order to reach the United States. Living in Arizona I have learned that many people perish once they have crossed the US/Mexico border because traveling through the desert unassisted and without any supplies is often fatal. However after watching this documentary I realized that this challenge is no where near as dangerous as the journey to the border. This film documents horror stories from multiple individuals who have fallen victim to armed robbery, beatings, sexual assault, mutilation and intimidation. These tales were unsettling, but are apart of a reality that should not be ignored. The film will definitely leave you asking: What could be so horrible in Mexico and Central America that a person would expose themselves to the dangers of illegal immigration? Why aren't more people speaking out against the injustices that poor immigrants face? Should something be done to improve the immigration process for poor immigrants in Mexico, and should the same be done here in the US? These are hard questions to answer, but if you value humanity then they deserve your attention. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member This documentary is sad. You can see the struggle these immigrants have to go through to provide for their families. Maria, which is one of the main women being followed, went for miles to go north. She was even raped along the way but still continued on so she could send money to her sick husband and her children. The corruption we also see in the authorities also astounds me. But yes, I would recommend this movie to anyone studying immigration. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Great Documentary on Immigration.
