More about the sprawling way a film gets us to its final word than it what it actually says there. Go to Full Review

"Dead or Alive 2: Birds" is the most "tame" part of the trilogy, but also a film that highlights Miike's ability to direct (or include elements of if you prefer) movies that are not based on violence or the extreme Go to Full Review

It's very different than the first film, and elevates the concept of the series substantially. It's also genuinely touching, with Miike exploring the purity of childhood and the depravity of adulthood. Go to Full Review

See more 07/14/2012 a crime film that focuses more on the personal side of the hit-man, of innocence shattered, and the possibility for redemption--Miike has done it again!! See more 06/18/2012 This is a much more sentimental film than the original, and the lack of action ended up being something that I found a little distracting, resulting in a lower rating. The leads are back from the first film in different roles and it's interesting to see them interact in new and different ways, especially as they have soem 'down time' to reminisce about their shared youth. Good stuff, well worth a look. See more Read all reviews
