Sean Axmaker Parallax View ... a film of shadows and secrets and moments of street poetry. Aug 11, 2010 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews Though enjoyable by virtue of its distorted mise-en-scene, affection for NYC characters and its misplaced dialogue, this is not art but run-of-the-mill film noir. Russ G I'm a fan of the Noir genre even though most of them were made a decade or more before my birth in the mid 1950's, so I clicked on this from the TCM streaming site. Twenty or so minutes in I bailed because the premise was so ridiculous; could the two leads possibly be that stupid? BTW, I'm a fan of Susan Hayward though it's a real shame she took the embarrassing part in "Valley of the Dolls" at the tail end of her distinguished career. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/24/25 Full Review scott F chicago Susan Hayward is gorgeous. I liked the movie it wasnt slow for me and the camera work is beautiful. I recommend it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review deke p GREAT 3 CAST: a young SUSAN H., a young BILL Wms (later TV KIT CARSON), & great PAUL LUKAS! I've see a couple times on THE MOVIE CHANNEL. SPOILER ALERT! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Great noir. Luv the dialog. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review s r I gave it a shot, it was alright. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Okay little noir about Susan Hayward helping naive wide eyed sailor Paul Lukas clear his name when he's suspected of murder. It's a nicely shot little noir and has some good moments of suspense and action, but the the story seemed a bit muddled. Written by respected playwright Clifford Odets during his time slumming it as a Hollywood screenwriter, adapting a Cornell Woolrigh story. This was the lone theatrical film by director Harold Clurman, who was a respected stage director. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
