I simultaneously insist you watch this straight gay film but also fail to recommend it. Go to Full Review

It's tricky deciding what kind of cheese "Deadly Illusions," a diverting thriller starring Kristin Davis and Dermot Mulroney streaming on Netflix, is exactly. Soft and overripe, from the look of it. Go to Full Review

Movies don't come much clunkier than "Deadly Illusions," an unconvincing mishmash of psychodrama and erotic thriller filled with silly plot holes, obvious dialogue, and risibly bad actions and reactions. Go to Full Review

A throwback to the 1990s heyday of both the erotic thriller and its close cousin, the Fill-in-the-blank-from-Hell genre. Go to Full Review

Aluna U Sep 29 Deadly Illusions presents an intriguing concept reminiscent of Shirley but falls short due to poor execution, numerous plot holes, and confusing lines between reality and imagination that dilute the main story. While the cinematography, camera work, and soundtrack are commendable, weak acting—especially Mary’s overly cheerful portrayal—and inconsistent storytelling undermine the film’s impact. Despite its potential, the movie struggles with shallow dialogue and a lack of clear narrative focus, leaving viewers unsatisfied and craving a stronger, more coherent thriller. It was unintentionally funny because of the bad acting. Greer Grammer gave a good performance, but the idea that she would be obsessed with Kristin Davis was not believable. This was no Fatal Attraction. I'm not sure who pulled strings to get this laugh-fest made.
