Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com All of the unbelievable aspects of "Dear Santa" would be forgivable if it was just funny or sweet. It's neither. Rated: 1/4 Dec 2, 2024 Full Review Benjamin Lee Guardian There’s just nothing all that inventive despite the broad rule-free canvas. Rated: 2/5 Nov 26, 2024 Full Review Matthew Jackson AV Club If Christmas movies can’t be good, they can usually at least be pleasant distractions. Dear Santa is neither. It’s a regrettable film, one that wasn’t ever worth the wordplay that started it. Rated: D Nov 26, 2024 Full Review Pramit Chatterjee Film Fugitives Contrary to popular opinion, Dear Santa rests on Robert Timothy Smith’s shoulders (...) His awkwardness, innocence, and charm feel so organic and honest that it doesn’t look like he is putting on a performance. Rated: C+ Dec 14, 2024 Full Review Alex Maidy JoBlo's Movie Network Dear Santa is schmaltzy, dumb, and does nothing to earn its PG-13 rating outside of mild profanity and a couple of poop jokes. Avoid. Rated: 4/10 Dec 10, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Blake H The concept of a kid accidentally writing a letter to Satan when he was trying to write a letter to Santa is a wild premise that could have gone in many different directions but ultimately this movie's biggest sin is it's lack of follow-through. It tried to be a wacky supernatural comedy where anything can happen and a heartfelt holiday flick at the same time, which is possible but it never fully commits to either one, not to mention the tone is uneven and the humor is lacking. Every time I thought they were doing to do something interesting with the story, they just didn't, and it almost felt like I was watching them try and figure out the story in real time. It would have been a lot more interesting if the Devil didn't reveal himself so soon, because once he does, the protagonist wants nothing to do with him and most of the movie is just him telling the Devil to leave him alone. Plus, the protagonist doesn't really make any decisions that effect the story. Things just kind of happen to him and nothing he or anyone does has any real consequences. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/20/25 Full Review Legz N Horrible acting. The only good actor was the psychologist. The kids acting (main character) was horrible. I hope he has a back up career. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/25 Full Review Michael J Truly awful. I can only assume the lead kid’s parents know someone important cause there’s no way he should ever act in anything. Just avoid this like the plague.
