Hector S @elcinefilolatino 2d Mort d’un Acteur didn’t just make me laugh like few short films manage to: it restored my hope in the form of a fierce guffaw. Our society seems determined to erase us, to replace us with algorithms and simulacra, and Ambroise Rateau reminds us that the human being remains the great protagonist of their own story. That collective madness doesn’t have to swallow us whole; we can, like Philippe Rebbot, grab the "knife" of the narrative and reclaim it, even if it’s with an absurd and savage gesture. Because behind every fake news story, every deepfake, and every prefabricated biopic beats the same unbreakable truth: cinema, black humor, and unleashed imagination remain the last trenches where we reinvent what it means to be human. And as long as there are directors like Rateau willing to tell us these stories, the battle is not lost; on the contrary, it has only just begun—and for someone as talented as Rateau, it promises to be gloriously hilarious.
