The good news: Despite all the worries that this would be nothing more than an alt-right wet dream in which Bruce Willis guns down scores of blacks and Muslims, the film is actually restrained in such matters. The bad news: It still isn't very good.

Absolute classic, Eli Roth, goes full gore, with head splats and twisted limbs. And in my opinion one of Bruce's best movie since the early noughties... it is a bit corny, but perfect for an evenings entertainment, and all the looking away parts... head splats I counted at least 6

From a directing and pacing perspective this was actually quite good. Even the storytelling wasn't too bad considering what they were tasked with emulating. The social commentary from the radio stations was a bit cheesy. Some other aspects, like the buddy cops, felt a little cliché.

I'm not a fan of remakes. However, having read reviews beforehand, it was much better than I expected. Willis, as usual, doesn't do much. Vincent D'Onofrio is also a bit superfluous. The plot was straight forward and Kersey was understandably motivated. The detectives held the movie together and this was an enjoyable watch.
