Audience Member I love a cheesy Christmas movie. The more lighthearted the better. Give me a feel good plot and a happy ending and a few predictable tropes and it feels like Christmas. Then there’s this. What could have had such promise, and been the kind of screwball comedy we love at the holidays just missed every mark imaginable. There’s so bad it’s good and there’s just plain painful. Predictable set up with the busy executive who as a condition of his wealthy grandfathers will must host the family for Christmas dinner and decorate the supposedly huge lake house. He hires an event planner because even with weeks of plan he can’t manage to put up a tree himself? Dude moves to Maine to “work remotely” with the blessing of his boss who actually encourages him to take time off. Why he moves there is anyone’s guess as he doesn’t do a darn thing. This movie is unbelievable but in all the wrong ways. House is supposed to be a mansion on the lake. It looks more like a cheap rental in suburbia. Not even B roll of a lake. He gives a tour of the house and all we see are stark rooms with decorated in early hand me down. He pays $12K for decorations, and makes a big deal about the whole house being decked out and we get $20 worth of Dollar Tree. This movie desperately needed a screenwriter. Someone who has spoken to humans before. So much random exposition that is delivered with all the emotion of an elementary school play, and doing nothing to advance the story. Mom randomly springs that he can’t hire a decorator days before Christmas and I kept waiting for the main characters to have to do the zany pretend to be a couple thing but that doesn’t happen? Like, at all. I thought maybe I missed a scene or heard that part wrong as he literally never tells her his family thinks they are a couple? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/29/24 Full Review Elma D This movie was not great…….but I think worth a watch all the same - I was definitely entertained. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/29/24 Full Review Tanya D Okay ye all !!! Perhaps it wasn’t the best BUT that’s what makes me love it more… I mean I’ve watched it twice now and it’s definitely worth seeing. Go see for yourself and don’t be put off with negative reviews, loved the cast too . ❤️🤗. Tanya Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/29/24 Full Review Elodie M I love a cheesy Christmas film. I'll even watch them in July. This however, was perhaps the worst I've seen, and that says a lot. The camera angles alone were enough to make me want to turn it off. The editing, directing and acting were shocking. This film was so bad it was like a car accident, I couldn't look away. It was so bad I felt like I had to start a rotten tomatoes account. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/15/23 Full Review Diane J Has to be the worst Christmas movie I've seen and I've seen a lot! No real story, very slow and no chemistry between the man and woman 🤷🏻‍♀️ I had to watch it as I thought it might get better - it didn't! Hard to watch, definitely on my list to avoid watching again 😂 Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
