Set in the Caribbean, Deep Fear is an intense and visceral survival thriller with furious action throughout. Madalina Ghenea stars as Naomi, an accomplished round-the-world yachtswoman, who sets out on a solo trip to meet her boyfriend, Jackson -- played by Ed Westwick -- in Grenada. Her tranquil three-day sail aboard 47-foot yacht 'The Serenity' takes an unexpectedly dark turn when a storm forces her off the plotted course. Circumnavigating an uninhabited reef-fringed island, she responds to a distress signal to aid a sinking vessel where she finds survivors clinging to the shattered remains of a boat. Events soon take a malevolent twist when it transpires the survivors are savage drug traffickers; Jose, played by Stany Coppet, Maria, played by Macarena Gomez and Tomas, played by John-Paul Pace, who force Naomi to dive down into the hull of the sunken wreck to retrieve 350 kilos of cocaine. The plan is thwarted when Naomi finds herself surrounded by a frenzy of great white sharks -- lured by the dead bodies in the wreck. In a tense and deadly undersea attack, Naomi must use her wits, skills and determination to survive both the narcos and one of nature's most awesome apex predators.

Jeffrey M. Anderson Common Sense Media Ridiculous and predictable, this shark thriller almost makes it as a camp classic or a "so-bad-it's-good" movie, but it's ultimately just too feebleminded and lethargic. Rated: 2/5 Mar 29, 2024 Full Review Paul Mount Starburst Despite some iffy acting, Deep Fear is enlivened by some well-staged action scenes, intermittent bloody shark attacks and some proper tension during the diving sequences. Rated: 3/5 Feb 9, 2024 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation Any movie with a taste of “The Islands” and the gin-clear waters of the Caribbean will always have some allure. But this one just reminds us of all the superior thrillers with similar stories, characters and settings that came before it. Rated: 1/4 Jan 30, 2024 Full Review Dave Golder Radio Times Deep Fear is well shot, with some impressive underwater cinematography, and the shark attacks are surprisingly effective when they finally arrive. michael g Watch this mainly for the shark attack footage, which is surprisingly well done for a low budget movie. The first half of the movie is slow, but the second half grabs your attention, especially when the villains arrive and the shark action picks up. As for the sentimental and human interest part of the plot, it’s banal and uninteresting but doesn’t take too much screen time, so you can ignore it. The female lead is more eye-candy than actress, but good acting is not the strong suit of this film anyway. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/12/24 Full Review Sarah O this movie makes me wish i was blind. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/16/24 Full Review Fiona F The most Un Sharkey shark film ... When the shark finally arrives it's all a bit flat took to long to get started was all very predictable . Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/23/24 Full Review Bonnie W Terrible, bad acting and absolutely poor writing. Lines are said very lazily with no effort. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/15/24 Full Review Helene Worst movie ever. Absolutely terrible. Acting part is worst I have ever seen. Hallmark even does better. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/04/24 Full Review Bruce K One of the worst movies you will ever see. The main actress has in no way acted or been trained as an actor. She was god awful.
