Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express [Rakeysh Omprakash] Mehra is so focused on getting the setting right that he forgets to move his movie along. It's one thing to translate the slow, old-world quality of the place; it's quite another for your story to have to struggle to come up for air. Apr 26, 2019 Full Review Anil Sinanan Time Out Mehra's follow-up to his Bafta-nominated Rang de Basanti is another gritty slice of political Bollywood cinema. Rated: 4/5 Nov 14, 2016 Full Review Michael Ordoña Los Angeles Times Anchored by a fascinating score from Oscar winner A.R. Rahman, naturalistic performances and a wide cinematic palette, Delhi-6 is a fair introduction to Indian cinema for outsiders -- who will have no clue at times why the audience is laughing. Rated: 4/5 Feb 27, 2009 Full Review Michael Dequina TheMovieReport.com Bollywood masala pictures are a bit messy by definition, but this film is simply a disorganized muddle Rated: 2/4 Mar 8, 2009 Full Review Maitland McDonagh Miss FlickChick Though admirably serious and ambitious, this fish-out-of-water comedy-drama ... is a jumbled collection of moments that range from the touching to the tedious. Mar 4, 2009 Full Review Frank Lovece Film Journal International An Indian drama with music, rather than a typical Bollywood musical, this ambitious story of a first-generation Indian-American discovering his roots in Delhi loses focus amid plots about patronizing Yanks, Muslim/Hindu relations and a media-fed legend of Feb 20, 2009 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Although unbalanced at times, Delhi-6 offers a good mix of old-school romanticism and socio-political commentary, woven together with a stream-of-consciousness style of writing. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Quite slow and dull drama with a simmering relationship story. Only its final telling scene breathes some life into proceedings. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member A big credit goes to director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, for giving us such a great view of Delhi in the movie. The background score by A.R Rahaman is just brilliant. The casting could be better. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent movie. Visually mesmerizing. The soundtrack is also very....addicting. Don't trust those reviews. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Takes some time to take shape, with a lump of several consecutive songs in the middle, but once concluded, clearly a good movie that holds up a 'mirror' message : Look within yourself, He isn't far from you..the path to goodness is in you. And also the Kala Bandar (Black Monkey) imagery representing the unkindness in us. (Instead of killing the monkey, we kill each other). Spot-on use of simple effects- the Hanuman play's characters popping up in surreal fashion later, the bells, pigeons, colours, music, etc..Heartwarming and effective! And of course, a very well-cast Abhishek in the lead role :) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review user c Painful. The songs are superlative, and the first half of the film actually seems like it's building up to something awesome. And then, the second half happens -- or rather, fails to happen. Pointless, dissatisfying, and confused. A bad memory Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
