David L Aug 30 A group of ghost hunters go to a haunted house where ritualistic murders previously occurred only to awaken an evil entity. I think critics and audiences always demand that a horror movie bring something new to the genre, and while that is a plus, it’s not always necessary. This film is a perfect example. Yeah, it’s got a lot of the stereotypical characters and plot but it is really well done, directed and acted, making it a thoroughly enjoyable watch. If you’re a horror fan give it a go. You can certainly do much, much, worse. What little story there is unfolds at a sluggish pace, and the attempts at creating a frightening atmosphere are largely ineffective. The horror elements are uninspired and fail to generate genuine scares. The characters are underdeveloped and uninteresting, making it difficult to form any connection with their struggles or fate. Their motivations are often unclear, and the dialogue feels generic and forgettable. This lack of emotional depth contributes significantly to the film's inability to engage the viewer. While "Demonic" may have had some potential on paper, its poor execution, weak plot, and lack of a compelling hook prevent it from being a worthwhile horror film.
