Nick O'Brien is the hard-drinking leader of the Regulators, an elite unit of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Ray Merrimen is the recently paroled leader of the Outlaws, a gang of ex-military men who use their expertise and tactical skills to evade the law. O'Brien, Merrimen and their crews soon find themselves on a direct collision course as the criminals hatch an elaborate plan for a seemingly impossible heist -- the city's Federal Reserve Bank.

Butler and Schreiber deliver commanding performances. They are men who could explode at any moment, at work or at home. That nonstop ticking beneath their calm exteriors fills the film with a gripping tension.

Den of Thieves desperately wants to be Heat or The Killer when it grows up. Instead it's a daft, distant, drunken cousin to those pictures, but if you studiously avoid thinking about it, you can at least enjoy its moronic antics.

A very well-written crime thriller that keeps the action to the fore but doesn't forget how important an intense a plot is as well. Butler is amazing in a role that he was born to play.

It's one thing for the bad guys to shoot one another, but when cops place dozens of innocent people in the middle of an automatic gun battle it feels gratuitous even for a movie like this.

First two acts are very good well written well acted makes sense. The problem is in the third act things fall apart quickly when the lead character sheriff suddenly knows where to go for the real heist in a city of 12 million people also the supposed X military tactics used are subpar nothing realistic in the final act too bad had a lot going for it for a while

3.5 stars; Lots of body bags, but overall, a pretty good heist action movie. I'm a Gerard Butler fan, so this gets 3 stars from the jump. This was a very raw role for Gerard, and he played it tough. What makes him a good actor is that every now and then in this role, he would let his soft side come out. Loved the twist ending.

Oh my golly Ray merrimen I so love your " I don't care charm." Everyone the movie is lit with 🔥 Action, emotion, comedy, I mean a gal couldn't ask for more! Every character and intricate detail is important and it makes you say woooooo literally. It's a must see. Spoiler den of thieves 2 is so bad I fell asleep in the movie theater save the money on that movie 🎥
