David Ehrlich indieWire The fun of this delightful bop of a film - not to mention its basic thesis - is located in the idea that Depeche Mode fans are way more widespread and diverse than you might imagine these days. Rated: B Nov 21, 2019 Full Review Alex Saveliev Film Threat It's a grandiose performance that demonstrates how this almost-40-year-old band still has the capacity to bring folks out of the murk, and into the light. Rated: 8/10 Dec 17, 2019 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall It's a rare movie that explores the way an artist impacts the audience, and vice versa. Nov 25, 2019 Full Review Joe Friar The Victoria Advocate Longtime collaborator Anton Corbijn brings six fans together to share their personal stories in the documentary that transcends the concert film genre. edward b This was a surprise find for me. Some reviewers said "Oh, it wasn't long enough", but I feel it was just perfect. Instead of showing the bands full performance dancing around on stage and playing all their hits (which would have been cool also) they show how the music touched people throughout the world. And the fans highlighted were 'real people' who've experienced very different trials of life (divorce, cancer, communism, crashes, discrimination). It was nice to watch how all of these different personalities could come together with the band and music that has touched their lives so much. It was sad to see them cry as they told their stories, but you were lifted back up when you see them all smiling and singing together at the show. My experience with Depeche Mode is different as well, but in the music I found a little kinship with these fans also. Again, what a nice surprise to discover this film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review mark r 40 yrs and still grabs all ages by the scruff of the neck and sends them wild Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I've been a fan of Depeche Mode since the mid-80s so I will fully admit to my bias here. 40 years in and the guys are showing their age, but dang, they still put on quite a show. I've seen them in concert live twice, and this performance was up there with those. The big deal here is they also told the story of 6 fans throughout the video, and that made it all the more personal and touching. DM has a way of reaching into peoples souls and inspiring life-long devotion, as was well exhibited here. I took my wife and daughter to the local one night showing of this in Boca Raton. For me, it was amazing. They enjoyed it too but not the same extent. They liked the music, the stories, and the cinematography, and thought it gave them a better insight as to why DM is one of my favorite bands. This is a must see for rabid fans like myself, but not so much for anyone who doesn't know Depeche Mode. That said, it may make them converts and it is still a well-made rockumentary. Reach out and touch faith! ~ Kort Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member i loved every minute of it. the fans were so amazing. loved it big time Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Perfect. I am 50 today and they were the first concert I went to see in 1984. This Rockumentary is a narrative to many of our lives. Thank you Martin, Fletch, Dave, Peter, Christian, and yes, Alan...Much love to you all Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/22/19 Full Review Jay V Really great movie - I think even people who think that they DON'T like Depeche Mode would like it.
