A tragedy as much as a horror film, Depraved is a contemporary love letter to Mary Shelly's legacy Go to Full Review

At nearly two hours, Depraved can feel a little long in the tooth... Then again, the performances here are a little too strong for Fessenden's film to be anything other than a treat for fans of independent horror. Go to Full Review

A heartfelt, deftly mature 21st-century reimagining of author Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, indie auteur Larry Fessenden's Depraved is a movingly emotional monster movie that packs a pretty mean punch. Go to Full Review

Depraved is an aggressively ambitious modern take on the Frankenstein story, one with a disarmingly empathetic view towards the creature at its core. Go to Full Review

I went into it not realizing that I was watching a Frankenstein remake. I figured it out quickly, but writer, director and horror acting legend Larry Fessenden makes the story fresh and disorienting from the beginning. Go to Full Review

Rich C @Cordu0702 Nov 10 Nice film. Enjoyed it and it's worth the watch. See more Tom L 12/03/2024 Larry Fessenden knocked it out of the park with this modern reimagining of the Frankenstein story. Hits all the notes of the original novel but with a modern twist that in lesser hands may have come off as cheesy or pretentious. Great cast, wonderful story and script, and masterful direction. The tragic ending really packed an emotional wallop. Fessenden himself makes a cameo as a barfly in one brief scene that you might miss if you blink. See more Craig B @Boundsy 03/31/2024 Depraved is certainly an interesting take on the Frankenstein story, based in a modern setting. Admittedly I nearly gave up after 30 minutes wondering where this film was heading, but I stuck with it. You do have to be patient and get through the first half of the film. The second half is certainly more intriguing and more eventful, with an escalation in the story with every unfolding situation. If you stick with it, you may ultimately get something out of this movie…it really only ‘broke even' for me. See more Thom G 03/26/2024 "Depraved" offers an immersive experience that puts the viewer in the shoes of the protagonist. It's a successful modern adaptation of a classic theme, with philosophical undertones that add depth. The film benefits from strong performances and is overall a moving experience. See more Thomas R 07/17/2023 Larry Fessenden's "Depraved" is a beautifully-told-&-filmed, modern Gothic tale of Frankenstein—adroitly played by actor Alex Breaux. Part romantic, part dread, this film with stick to your psyche long after the credits roll. I can't wait to see the director's take on Dracula and the werewolf sub-genre. See more Jeffrey P 06/25/2023 A spin on ‘Frankenstein' and a fairly decent one at that. See more Read all reviews
