don s This is a truly awful horror movie. Katherine Heigl, one of my favs, couldn't even make it even mildly interesting. The purported descendant of Edgar Allan Poe is also a horror writer who travels the country telling everyone what a hack his predecessor was. He lands (by design) in small town California to hook up with a very distant cousin in an attempt to carry out vengeance for a slight that took place seven generations prior. The only horror aspect, besides the tenuous tie about horror writers, is the ghost of Poe that interacts with the main character. I'd say bloody awful, but it doesn't even qualify for that. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Decent idea, poor execution, takes forever to get going, and then drags on too long. The characters are alright, the plot gets confusing but is interesting, yet it gets messy towards the end and eventually stops making much sense. The films feels kind of thrown together. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Descendant isn't horrible, but it is rather boring and uninspired despite trying to use a somewhat interesting premise involving descendants of Edgar Allan Poe. Even when murders are happening, the film just doesn't raise much interest, and the acting is wooden along with the awful dialogue. This doesn't work as a horror film, a thriller, or even a guilty pleasure. What a shame. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member A hilarious travesty of a movie, memorable mostly for valiantly trying to name check every Poe story. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member William Katt is a doctor, Jeremy London is Ethan Poe, Katherine Heigl is Ann Hedgerow in this film about a descendant of Edgar Allan Poe who is writing similar kinds of stories and who is struggling with a recent work when he meets a near descendant who is somewhat related to him. Poe and Hedgerow have a romance with one another then Hedgerow discovers that Poe is a rather dangerous man. Hedgerow also has a brother who has designs on being with his own sister even though she continually refuses him. 2/10 Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member not a bad TV movie, but not very good either. At least there weren't any vampires in it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
