Time Out In some ways these features are more like sporting events than fantasies. Jan 26, 2006 Full Review Pieter-Jan Van Haecke Psychocinematography Despite alluding to the metaphorical past of kaiju, Honda’s Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters offers another narrative in which Otherness is feared and a deceptive imaginary sense of societal harmony is subtly celebrated. Feb 27, 2024 Full Review Pat Padua Washington City Paper The human-scaled scenes, however colorful, get pretty plodding. But it’s all worth it when the Monsterland team rises against the invading forces and to save the planet they once meant to destroy Jul 19, 2023 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film Sometimes the most thrilling experience one can have at the movies is simply watching a big monster fight and a lot of stuff getting smashed up. Rated: 4/5 Jun 9, 2023 Full Review Bob Chipman Escapist Magazine This is effectively the end of the "golden age" of Godzilla movies (there wouldn't be a truly great installment again until the 90s) but it's a hell of a note to go out on. SkyRo P The 1968 film "Destroy All Monsters" features an array of historical and mythological monsters, including the iconic Godzilla, in a cheesy and over-the-top spectacle. The cinematography and special effects of the time give the film a dated appearance, with the CGI and monster creations appearing cartoonish and lacking realism, especially by today's standards. Given the limitations of filmmaking technology in 1968, it is understandable that the visual effects, including the portrayal of Godzilla, may seem fake and unconvincing to modern audiences. However, it is important to consider the context of the era and the resources available at the time when evaluating the film's production value. While the film may not hold up well in terms of visual effects when compared to modern CGI standards, it is worth acknowledging the effort and creativity that went into bringing these monsters to life in 1968. Despite its shortcomings in visual presentation by contemporary standards, "Destroy All Monsters" can be appreciated for its contribution to the era of monster movies and its place in cinematic history as a product of its time. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/18/24 Full Review Justin T This is definitely my favourite Godzilla movie so far. There are a lot of monsters including new ones. Manda might even be my favourite! It has a more serious tone, well when compared to the previous few Godzilla movies anyway. There is some great monster melee action. The city destruction is awesome although there could have been more of it like in other cities eluded to near the start. This is what a Godzilla movie should be about, a semi-serious tone with some ludicrous moments, new monsters, lots of monster melee and plenty of city smashing. It’s worth noting that this is the most gory so far but obviously nothing compared to a horror movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/17/24 Full Review Rich A I can watch this over and over never gets old! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/23/24 Full Review Chanr3y k For what was meant to be Godzilla's last movie, it doesnt really hold up to that degree, the movie is more interested in its boring human plot then the monsters, but when we get to the monster action, it gets good. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/15/24 Full Review Gorptholemew T 🍀 4.6/10 The dr jumping out of the windows, probably one of the funniest things I've ever seen. By this point I feel like I've just seen this film a million times already tho it's not the worst of these movies. Grade C+ Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/10/24 Full Review Irelia I it is actully better than i though. But it is still not great or something like that Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/03/24 Full Review Read all reviews
