Despite alluding to the metaphorical past of kaiju, Honda’s Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters offers another narrative in which Otherness is feared and a deceptive imaginary sense of societal harmony is subtly celebrated. Go to Full Review

The human-scaled scenes, however colorful, get pretty plodding. But it’s all worth it when the Monsterland team rises against the invading forces and to save the planet they once meant to destroy Go to Full Review

Sometimes the most thrilling experience one can have at the movies is simply watching a big monster fight and a lot of stuff getting smashed up. Go to Full Review

This is effectively the end of the "golden age" of Godzilla movies (there wouldn't be a truly great installment again until the 90s) but it's a hell of a note to go out on. Go to Full Review

Vincent W @Gojirilla5419 Sep 20 It gives less screen time for the Kaiju, which I personally dislike. But that’s not the story it’s trying to tell, DAM is very unique in what it is, and it’s definitely not for everyone, but that’s okay. See more Khaliel P Aug 18 Released in 1969 and intended as the final entry in the Godzilla series, All Monsters Attack brings together eleven Toho kaiju under the control of the alien Kilaaks. Set in 1999, Earth is at peace and the monsters are confined to an island, but the Kilaaks release them to attack major cities, forcing the UN to intervene. The film balances spectacular monster battles with a credible human storyline, while Godzilla appears more menacing, Anguirus is more detailed, and Ghidorah meets a surprisingly bloody end. Some creatures like Minilla, Baragon, and Varan are underused, yet the movie delivers a thrilling mix of 1960s charm and blockbuster-style action, successfully revitalizing the franchise despite its lack of true innovation. See more Patrick M. @GoPredator Aug 13 This is one of my favorite Godzilla movies. The story was good and the monster action was great. But there were a few monsters unused in the movie that was the only thing I didn’t like. See more SkyRo P @TheMovieSearch 08/18/2024 The 1968 film "Destroy All Monsters" features an array of historical and mythological monsters, including the iconic Godzilla, in a cheesy and over-the-top spectacle. The cinematography and special effects of the time give the film a dated appearance, with the CGI and monster creations appearing cartoonish and lacking realism, especially by today's standards. Given the limitations of filmmaking technology in 1968, it is understandable that the visual effects, including the portrayal of Godzilla, may seem fake and unconvincing to modern audiences. However, it is important to consider the context of the era and the resources available at the time when evaluating the film's production value. While the film may not hold up well in terms of visual effects when compared to modern CGI standards, it is worth acknowledging the effort and creativity that went into bringing these monsters to life in 1968. Despite its shortcomings in visual presentation by contemporary standards, "Destroy All Monsters" can be appreciated for its contribution to the era of monster movies and its place in cinematic history as a product of its time. See more Justin T 05/17/2024 This is definitely my favourite Godzilla movie so far. There are a lot of monsters including new ones. Manda might even be my favourite! It has a more serious tone, well when compared to the previous few Godzilla movies anyway. There is some great monster melee action. The city destruction is awesome although there could have been more of it like in other cities eluded to near the start. This is what a Godzilla movie should be about, a semi-serious tone with some ludicrous moments, new monsters, lots of monster melee and plenty of city smashing. It’s worth noting that this is the most gory so far but obviously nothing compared to a horror movie. See more Rich A 04/22/2024 I can watch this over and over never gets old!
