damian l It was a little scary Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review bill t Enjoyably stupid movie about a puppy given to some kids by an UNSCRUPULOUS VEGGIE STAND DEALER! who turns out to be a DEVIL DOG! The kids are soon possessed, and so is Mom! It's up to Richard Crenna to try to figure this mess out. Hilarious for the set design alone... Like the wallpapered ceilings. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Not a great film. But I saw this when I was 9 or 10 and recall additional scenes that appear to be missing now. Does anyone know for certain if this re-release in 2005 is intact as aired in 1978? Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member For a 70s TV movie about a satanic dog terrorizing a suburban family it's not that bad. The effects are horrible and cheesy, but the costume the dog wears is so cute that I love it! The acting is also pretty strong for something this dumb. Still, it's fairly generic and forgettable so it's hard to recommend this unless you wanna see a movie about... well... a devil dog. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Devil Dog: The Hound of Hell is a somewhat competent TV movie about a dog being possessed by a demon and causing the family that it lives with to perform satanic rituals in the attic. It also kills anyone who gets in its way, and the father, who's unaffected by the demon's power, is next on its list if he doesn't do something about it. The movie stars Richard Crenna, Yvette Mimieux, Kim Richards, Ike Eissenmann and R.G. Armstrong, is a bore most of the time, but does have some good dramatic moments. There's also some unintentional comedic moments in there to be found, as well. The effect of the devil dog is hilariously awful and worth seeing the movie for, in my opinion. Everyone does a pretty good job with the material, I suppose, but it just didn't seem all that great, overall. Perhaps if it hadn't been a TV movie, the pace of it might have made it a little more edgy. It's not a bad movie, just not an overtly interesting one. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member A candidate for Riff Tracks or Mysery Science Theater 3000 (if it were still on air)...
