      Critics Consensus

Derivative and mostly uninspired, Devil's Due adds little to either the found-footage or horror genres that it's content to mimic.

Bronwen S Constant jerky camera makes this unwatchable, not scary at all Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/24 Full Review Stoner J A shame this looks like a stinker in radio silence filmography because Devils Due was really good. Kind of a mashup of Paranormal Activity the Marked Ones and the Last Exorcism, and the effects are awesome! Just like another severely underrated horror movie from the same year, As Above So Below, another underrated horror gem. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/18/23 Full Review DB C I remember when this first released in theatres it was so packed at one showing that people had to sit on the floor. It's definitely a good horror film for it's kind, it might not be anything ground-breaking but it does what it sets out to do. The plot seems to be inspired by the classic film "Rosemary's Baby". Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/10/23 Full Review Erik Z Devil's Due is a disappointing and forgettable found-footage horror that relies on tired clichés and fails to offer anything new or genuinely frightening. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/24/23 Full Review Dinh L What a terrible film. Why do film makers think its a great way to have a film as if its recorded with shaky hands. It's awful. Nothing artistic or creative about it. That on top of a poor storyline. I let the film run its course because I didn't want it in my "continue watching" section. Larushka Ivan-Zadeh metro.co.uk Tiresomely and implausibly shot entirely as if found footage, this female-written horror is Rosemary's Baby for the Paranormal Activity generation. Rated: 2/5 Sep 6, 2017 Full Review Scott Tobias The Dissolve [T]he small achievement of Devil's Due is how much it both exploits the video-cam approach and overcomes some of its limitations. Rated: 3.0/5 Jan 31, 2014 Full Review Marc Savlov Austin Chronicle It's certainly not the worst of the found-footage subgenre, but it's a far cry from its Sixties- and Seventies-era cinematic inspirations. Rated: 2/5 Jan 23, 2014 Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh Given that this premise doesn't necessarily lend itself to the found-footage genre, the filmmakers make the best out of the format to deliver something largely unexpected. Rated: 4/5 Sep 20, 2023 Full Review Frank Ochieng SF Crowsnest The derivative shock-schlock wagon continues to roll on with the dull and unimaginative frightfest Devil's Due, a monotonous hybrid of Rosemary's Baby and Paranormal Activity slammed together in ugly unison. Rated: 1.5/4 Nov 11, 2018 Full Review Zena Dixon Real Queen of Horror Overall, I recommend Devil's Due if you won't mind that the film isn't scary and that it doesn't offer anything new.
