Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru A bland, by-the-numbers, witless and choppily edited dramedy. Oct 16, 2025 Full Review Fico Cangiano CineXpress High production values aside, Sanchez's debut feature film results in a disappointing comedy, full of tropes & weak storytelling. Sean P Making the african charecter fit stereotypes, the lesbian sexually harass the chef, and then using eric winter soley for the purpose of objectifying him felt out of touch and gross. The script itself was poorly written and predicable. Overall, if you wanna see a movie that was very clearly written by an unispired out-of-touch Gen-x this is the movie for you! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/17/25 Full Review Jessica P As a Puerto Rican, I wanted to love it. Roselyn kept emphasizing it was a love letter to Puerto Rico, but it seemed more like a love letter to herself-as she centered herself around all promotions/marketing, rather than the actors or the the actual story. This shows in the movie, as the plot was uninspiring, and quiete frankly, I could barely finish out of bordem. She placeed her husband, which seemed to be again only used as a marketing ploy-but also seemed to objectify him and utilize his looks as another marketing/selling piece rather than a well-written charecter. The story itself fell flat, with too many trophes, 'comedy' that didn't even get me to so much as smirk, and half-assed plots. It felt like every romcom i've ever seen put into one movie (not in a good way - as in in an unispired way). The movie seemed to not really have anything to say, just retold stories we've seen over and over so Roselyn can check off director from her bucket list - like I said, it felt more like a vanity project where she centered herself while neglecting writing any sort of unique plot. Only thing 'unique' I guess was it was set in Puerto Rico which was nice to see, but this isn't the first movie set there, and you can't half-ass a movie and say its a love letter by simply choosing to film in Puerto Rico but neglecting writting anything unique. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/16/25 Full Review A D If I could give it 0 I would. The only good part about the movie was Chef Matthew aka Eric Winter. The rest of the movie sucks. I don’t really care for the writer and producer as a actress or as a person to begin with Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/09/25 Full Review Luis M The movie is a love letter to Puerto Rico. Is a comedy full with adventure and some drama too. A very powerful message about the importance of friendships and self worth is unveiled on this movie. The mixture of Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic & Mexico is the recipe that Roselyn Sanchez used to portray the power of woman friendship. The cinematography portrays Puerto Rico as a important part of the movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/23/25 Full Review J A Its a pretty multi cultural story. A love letter to puerto Rico and latina friends. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/23/25 Full Review Read all reviews
