Chris M he pacing wasn't too bad, drags a little. This was the first attempt of bringing a bad guy from the comic strip to life. Considering making up effects were in it's infancy and expensive. So they created a new character which I think was added to the comic strip later. But here's the downside to the new villain. He's not exactly a complex character. He's one note, give me the diamonds. The story is good but I can see why it was only 62 minutes. But the one thing is worth checking this out. Dick has a friend named Vitamin played by Ian Keith. I don't know if this character is in the comic strip but that's to Ian Keith, Vitamin steals every scene he's in. He alone makes this fun enough to check out. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/20/23 Full Review Boneyard L This is a straightforward detective movie with all the quaintness of the era. The story isn't the kind that the audience can solve as they watch, but its adventure is fun to watch as the characters go through it. It is only a slightly more interesting story than its contemporary peers, but with a runtime of only about an hour it doesn't overstay its welcome. Closest comparison: It's like The Riverside Murder crossed with Tintin. Setting: Crime Plot: Detective Tone: Adventure Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/02/20 Full Review martin a A great murder mystery, very much in the vein of Sherlock Holmes, and some of the cast are outstanding, Dick Wessel is outstanding as the Strangler. And a great story all around the theft of some very expensive Diamonds. It is great to see that a film doesn't need violence, sex or swearing to be fantastic. A great classic, but watch out for some shaky wall props! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Solid entry in the Dick Tracy series but with Morgan Conway taking a turn as the homicide detective. This time, Dick is in pursuit of a gang of jewel thieves who spend all of their time double-crossing each other. Cueball may be low man on the totem pole but he's grit and grunt enough to knock off all of his colleagues. Of course, Tracy tracks him down in the end and he meets a gruesome death. The characterizations in small parts are interesting enough - although not really comic-book-like - to hold one's attention for an hour. Nothing more to be said. Other serials have stronger entries and lasted longer (on the big screen) but this was fine on a rainy night with a cold.
