Urban Cinefile Critics Urban Cinefile Based on his own play, Jack Hibberd's screenplay is as rumbuctious as a feisty Aussie outback town, and John Duigan's spirited direction gives the film a sizzling pace. Nov 26, 2007 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member A talented cast and intelligent script, but dated, and doesn't really escape its origins on the stage. Probably now mainly for fans of Australiana or late 70s Anglo-accented Australian slapstick farce, though it's considerably above average and should be a must for that audience. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Dimboola Review Directed by John Duigan based on a script (?) by Jack Hibberd starring Max Gillesâ(TM) wedding tackle (1979) Chad Morgan sings! The prosecution rests, its ears! With luck it may not be too late to round up surviving cast and crew and try them for crimes against humanity. Writer Hibberd suffered comparisons to Beckett with his extended monologue â A Stretch Of The Imaginationâ?: he was obviously taking no chances of this happening again. Rose Chongâ(TM)s mid 70â(TM)s period costumes are the only highlight of this dazzlingly awful film. Keep Australia beautiful; donâ(TM)t shoot a film called Dimboola.
