Matthew Turner Action Reloaded A thoughtful, smartly acted drama that’s worth seeking out. Rated: 3/5 Jun 24, 2023 Full Review Loren King Loren King An original and engaging take on the end of the world. May 12, 2023 Full Review Shikhar Verma High on Films This science-fiction-augmented-reality-twilight-zone thing is used for a self-actualization narrative for the protagonist to look within and discover who she is and what she really wants. May 10, 2023 Full Review Cole Smithey ColeSmithey.com Forget about things like three act structure, having an empathetic protagonist, or even thematic subtext for that matter, "Discontinued" is content to spin its wheels in existential mud for 90 minutes. Rated: ZERO STARS Apr 29, 2023 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews Its story is too vague to dig too deeply into it. Apr 27, 2023 Full Review Ronak Kotecha ronakkotecha.wordpress.com Drawing on concepts from "The Matrix" and "Juno," "Discontinued" is a delightful and amusing film that is just as twisted as it is entertaining. Michael L A wonderful first effort! Very meditative in subject matter and pace, but overall leaves interesting tidbits in the way it goes on to reveal itself. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/26/24 Full Review Sensei H I'm actually really shocked by the high scores, unless Rotten Tomatoes has suddenly gotten a whole new low standard scoring system setup for Gen Z, because the realization that this movie is garbage comes around 30 minutes when it reveals the most stupid and obvious conspiracy theory fatalist concept that all Gen Z kids think is the most appropriate excuse for the state of the world today, or some kind of dark explanation so they can deny any personal responsibility or accountability for the future. The only thing that makes me feel like the world is ending, or that none of it had any meaning, or that the future is lost is THIS MOVIE. (Afterward) The only way this movie could have added another star or two is if it had Lawrence Fishburne and the old Ellen Paige in it, which makes this version seem even worse now. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/24 Full Review Mahdiyeh H Despite the annoying pacing of its second half, <i>Discontinued<i> runs on a pretty thought-provoking concept, and I found the wry humor integrated into the personality of the main character quite riveting. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/05/23 Full Review Eric B Great film! Loved the character development of the lead and plot. Also enjoyed the way the story portrayed the concept of simulated reality. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/28/23 Full Review David A Prodcution values and acting were overall community-theater level (which is absolutely fine as long as your expectations match). Sound track was underwhelming; it was similar to an 80's movie with synth-only music. The story raised some interesting philosophical points at the cost of modest endorsement of suicide (wouldn't recommend if that is trigger for you). The story was uneven with some jarring, poorly incorporated elements. There have been so many interesting takes on this story, that it is hard to recommend this one. The movie's greatest strength seems to be plugging in to a current Zeitgeist about the state of the world as viewed through the eyes of a discouraged young person. I asked my daughter what she liked about the movied and she said that the lead's life struggles and perspective were "relatable". It is too bad that the arc of character development didn't move much from that starting position. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/24/23 Full Review Kurt P A good view. Interesting perspective from a young millennial. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/28/23 Full Review Read all reviews
