Andrew K It's just not a very good script. It was pretty boring in the beginning and the story was predictable. It could have used better character development and some of the casting choices weren't great. It did pick up a bit in the last third of the movie and there were a couple of decent moments. But overall, I don't think it hit what it was aiming for. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/21/23 Full Review yash b "Dismissed" isn't among the top of the thriller genre, but it is a decent way to kill some time. I thought the movie kept a solid tension-filled tone and did a lot with limited sets and what seemed like a fairly low budget. This is really the only time in the last few years where I feel like I've seen Dylan Sprouse acting and honestly, I thought he did a fair job in this movie. I do feel like Cole Sprouse has had all the spotlight on him with the TV show, "Riverdale," so it was nice to see that Dylan also has some solid acting talent. While I thought this movie was entertaining enough it felt a bit too straightforward and repetitive. The movie seemed to miss an opportunity to have a more creepy and in-depth storyline and instead serves up a pretty basic thrill ride. I wouldn't say anyone needs to rush out and see this movie, but if you do, it is definitely an okay and somewhat enjoyable movie. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a good movie has it shocking ending Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Joel C A solid low budget thriller. The writing was well done, taking the mundane school class subjects and making them interesting and meaningful for the characters. The actors did great in their roles. I began the film thinking whether I would watch it or not, but about 15 minutes in I wanted to watch it. Good job. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/03/21 Full Review Audience Member Is it just me or is this just another badly acted TV movie? I'm pretty sure the main actor of this was in the Netflix series Riverdale, and now he stars in this film ‘Dismissed' which is also airing on Netflix, however I noticed it isn't a Netflix Original. Anyway, this movie was pretty bad, almost at the level of ‘OK' for a cheap film on Netflix, but the whole story was just pointless. I mean, there're loads of films out there involving clearly unstable main characters (even though they're really the antagonist) who fail over the edge and end up doing something everyone involved will regret. But there's one thing: why did this one have to do bad at executing it? The ending slowly twisted into madness, and I can accept that sort of conclusion like in It Chapter 2 ( which was crazy from the start to be honest) or even Pet Sematary (2019) when these films have the right to go a bit off rails at the end since they're original, but you could've handed a piece of paper to an eight year old and said ‘this is a script for you to write on and make a movie' and they would probably come up with a more thought-through plot and plan of how to make something so much better than this. And in real life, even the most intense and unstable people (even children) wouldn't go insane if they got a grade at school above average... but not quite good enough for this high-expecting over-achieving (and psychotic) teenage pupil. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Great writing, directing, and acting. If you are into loud creepy music leading to someone popping up on the screen (scare jump) this isn't the movie for you. This is a tap into reality. Dylan did not disappoint and his supporting cast really backed him up. Only wish it ended differently so we could get a part two. This is a WONDERFUL movie though. Natasha Alvar The Critical Movie Critics Maybe a Mr. Keating type character ("Dead Poets Society") could have salvaged this. Instead I am left to say, treat this film the way its title suggests. Mar 22, 2021 Full Review Alix Turner Ready Steady Cut A psychological thriller which has more to it than first appears, about an intellectual student who also has more to him than first appears. Rated: 3.5/5 Feb 3, 2021 Full Review Joey Keogh Wicked Horror Dismissed is a slight, but by no means terrible film. Tense, rather than outright scary... it's a perfectly diverting way to spend less than 90 minutes. Rated: 6/10 Oct 1, 2019 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation Dylan Sprouse startles and chills in this otherwise hokey and contrived brilliant-student-goes-psychotic-on-his-teacher thriller.
