Joshua Tyler Giant Freakin Robot Long Distance takes all the hysterical, delusional narcissism of the past five years and distills it down to two characters trapped on an alien planet. Rated: 1/5 Sep 8, 2025 Full Review John Stark Mac the Movie Guy One has to wonder what it did to deserve the treatment it got. When a title gets abandoned like this, it ends up treating the concept of accessibility as a distant memory. Rated: 30/100 Jul 25, 2025 Full Review Matt Patches Polygon Long Distance has brains, brawn, and a sappy sentimental side. Jul 11, 2025 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com There’s warmth to be found for those who crave it, but what Cohen really has in the material is a short story, and that’s not enough to truly command attention in this misfire. Thomas L Not the best acting, and this movie borrows from everyone else, but it was passable. With Elon promising to have thousands living on Mars by 2050, there will a lot mor esci-fi to come. Does anyone remember the original Star Trek series? It is still my favorite. Just make sure everyone leans in the same direction when the ship turns, I gave it four stars just to push down on the bad reviews a bit. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/07/25 Full Review Derick V Stupid movie. Dumb things everywhere. Just dumb on so many levels. DUMB DUMB DUMB. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/24/25 Full Review Audience Member I'm sorry but honestly, this movie did not hit the spot for me or anyone in my family. Anthony Ramos acting is subpar at best and putting him in roles like this definitely doesn't help his career. If I had a choice to watch this movie again or get a tooth pulled, I most likely wwould get my tooth pulled because this movie was just that bad. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/20/25 Full Review sebastian andres o There are films that sometimes fall on bad luck and must deal with the entanglements they bring. This is what happened to Long Distance, a film directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck, which suffered a pandemic after its production and a lack of opportunities in the release calendar, which has led to its release only in Vietnam for the time being. However, it has been released in its VOD version and is worth revisiting, as it is an entertaining science fiction offering with clear references to great classics about space travel and deadly creatures lurking on a godforsaken planet. Starring Anthony Ramos, Naomi Scott, and Zachary Quinto, the film takes us through a crash-landing, where an asteroid drilling engineer ends up on an alien planet and must find a sole survivor. To do so, he must confront the mysteries this new planet holds. The film has good intentions and a good direction. Between the science fiction, the visual effects, and the comedic undertones, it makes this pastime at least enjoyable. It's not that its result elevates it directly to the best of the genre, but it does have its small moments that remind you of films like Alien, Prometheus, or Red Planet. Anthony Ramos carries the weight on his shoulders, providing the necessary nuances for us to connect with his character. Meanwhile, Naomi Scott delivers more serious moments throughout most of her performance, leading to a fairly decent climax where the film truly realizes its ambition to be an interesting offering for all genre fans. Its good photography work by Jeff Cutter and its music by Steven Price nuance a film that makes you feel the unknown and that also goes for the design of its creatures that are quite well achieved and terrifying. It's a film that has had bad luck, but it's been rescued from its oblivion and is worth giving a chance, especially if you're a fan of science fiction horror; it's a great weekend pastime. Correct, acceptable and well directed.
