Nelly Z This film really hits the sweet spot between comedy and chaos. One moment I was on the edge of my seat during the hostage standoff, and the next I was laughing uncontrollably. I love how even the criminals end up being funny in their own weird way (the younger guy, James, freaking out was oddly endearing). On one hand, the crazy medical mayhem had me laughing out loud (Oliver and James trying a Pulp Fiction–style adrenaline shot absolutely cracked me up). But on the other hand, some of the quieter, reflective scenes where Oliver confronts his fears dragged more than I expected. It’s an odd mix, yet there’s an earnest charm in Oliver’s journey that kept me engaged. At one point, Oliver’s panicked rambling about imaginary malpractice lawsuits in the middle of a life-or-death situation had our whole theater roaring with laughter. Even Dr. Norstrom, the only real doctor there, delivers some killer deadpan snark that had me cackling. It’s rare to find a comedy this outrageous that still has so much heart. Oliver is lovable in all his over-anxious glory, and Mia’s no-nonsense deadpan attitude is the perfect comedic foil for him. Their banter made me laugh out loud more than once, and even during the ridiculous hostage situation I found myself surprisingly invested in what would happen to them.
