Elderly clergyman Dr. Syn (George Arliss) is one of the most respected members of a tiny coastal community, but few of the locals have any idea that Syn was once known to the world as Captain Clegg, a merciless swashbuckler who viciously defended his wife, Imogen (Margaret Lockwood).
