Critics Consensus

An amateurish, unfunny and unscary British horror-comedy that could be accused of misogyny.

Derek Malcolm London Evening Standard You could say that this is one step up from the ghastly Lesbian Vampire Killers, since it suggests they are getting what they deserve from the other sex. But that step is a short one. Claudio C Doghouse (2009) Dumb, but Entertaining (11,675 – 06 May 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho) In London, when Vince (Stephen Graham) divorces, his friends decide to travel to the small village of Moodley, famous for having many women, with him to cheer him up. Neil (Danny Dyer), Mikey (Noel Clarke), Graham (Emil Marwa), Matt (Lee Ingleby), Patrick (Keith-Lee Castle) and Banksy (Neil Maskell) leave their mates and hire a small bus to take them to Moodley for the weekend, but Banksy’s van breaks down on the road and he does not meet his friends. When the driver Ruth “Candy” (Christina Cole) arrives at the village that seems to be empty, she says that she will wait 30 minutes in case they want to return to London. Soon they are attacked by zombies and when they meet Sgt. Gavin (Terry Stone), they learn that all the women in the village have turned into zombie as part of an experiment of a virus from the army. Further, many of them are in the woods and will return soon to the village. They return to the bus, but Candy has turned also into a zombie. How will they survive the attack of the women? “Doghouse” (2009) is a dumb, but entertaining British horror-comedy movie directed by Jake West. The idea of a virus that only affects women is insane. The execution is gory. But the male characters are too stupid, taking the worst action for each situation. The idiotic conclusion ends this movie of war of sexes with golden key of dumbness. My vote is six. Title (Brazil): Not Available My Blog: https://maniacosporfilme.wordpress.com/ Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/07/25 Full Review Ralph R Doghouse is a fun, gory ride that doesn't take itself too seriously. The film is well-shot, with solid performances from Danny Dyer and Noel Clarke, who bring a lot of energy and humor to the mix. While it leans heavily into some horror-comedy clichés, it still delivers plenty of laughs and over-the-top gore to keep things entertaining. The premise is simple, and while the story doesn't aim to be deep, the pacing works well, keeping you engaged throughout. It's surely not a masterpiece, but it's a solid watch if you're in the mood for a bloody, lighthearted, and distinctly British zombie romp. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/20/24 Full Review justin t Yeah it looked good. Nice palette, well-choreographed, all good. Solid sound mix with subtlety. I would have loved to work on this. This is nowhere near as good as Evil Aliens (2005). I'm a bit bored of this zombie vibe. This felt like a sell-out movie unlike the director's previous movies. Still it was entertaining and had lots of crazy moments and dislikeable (if predictable) characters. Full of zombie-women, blood, gore and craziness but somehow didn't quite work. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review christian m Personally thought this move was well above average for it's genre in a time when everyone is making zombie this or that this movie stands out amongst them. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Trashy, goofy and gory. It's a silly little zombie comedy that is ripe for causing outrage in today's climate. There's a couple funny bits, but it's overall far too dumb to hold up. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/17/21 Full Review Audience Member People not enjoying this film to the point of anger is very weird. Such a good film Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews
