Nigel Andrews Financial Times My advice: re-rent The Kids Are All Right, where sperm-donor paternity (played by Mark Ruffalo) gets the rueful, witty, mischievous-seriocomical treatment it should. Rated: 2/5 Jun 8, 2011 Full Review Philip French Guardian The best feature film on the subject is Lisa Cholodenko's funny and touching The Kids Are All Right. Jerry Rothwell's engaging documentary delivers the real-life thing. Jun 9, 2011 Full Review Allan Hunter Daily Express (UK) The scenes in which JoEllen meets her growing collection of half-sisters and half-brothers are among the most emotional in a sweet but slight documentary. Rated: 3/5 Jun 3, 2011 Full Review Tony Peters Radio Times What emerges is a moving, very human story about the search for belonging, as much as the need to make a child's own identity complete. Audience Member Well, how random... They say there's a limit as to how many children a donor can spawn, but he was making A LOT of deposits back in the day, and this is the result! A hell of a lot of half-siblings appearing. A really interesting doc about how all the kids have bonded, but the freak of a donor father is more interested in animals including pigeons, than his own flesh & blood gorgeous kids. Bizarre-o.
