Duane Byrge Hollywood Reporter Admittedly, the film is bolted to an intriguing psychological/paranormal premise, but the narrative trudges along in a fitful monotony of somber tones and stodgy pacing. Jul 19, 2017 Full Review Stephen Cole Globe and Mail Greenwood is excellent, as always. And a carefully measured performance by Sonja Bennett as Maggie's confused, protective mother contributes to a sense of stampeding panic. Rated: 2.5/4 Feb 24, 2012 Full Review Anita Li Toronto Star Billed as a "supernatural thriller," Donovan's Echo feels more like an overwrought made-for-TV movie. Rated: 1/4 Feb 23, 2012 Full Review Caffeinated Clint Moviehole Donovan's Echo is a real surprise package - stylish, compelling and intensely performed, showcasing a powerful and exciting new voice in filmmaking. Sep 3, 2020 Full Review Kyle Bain Film Threat Audiences should be enthralled by most of what takes place, especially because of the stellar acting. Rated: 8/10 Jul 17, 2020 Full Review Steve Newton Georgia Straight The indie flick's heart is in the right place but, unfortunately, its arteries are seriously clogged up with syrupy sappiness. s l Overall a decent movie, not great but good enough. A few spotty parts in my opinion but I liked it. There's a couple things I'd have liked expanded upon but hey, they made the movie, I didn't, so they get to put what they want in it. I like Danny Glover. All the actors were decent though. Filming nicely done. Story pretty good. A few issues, but otherwise most will probably enjoy this mystery with some supernatural ESP type stuff thrown in. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Mostly confusing with some tepid acting all around. It turns it around at the 1h11m mark, for about 45 seconds. After that, you don't think anymore about the 1h10m you won't get back. Worth it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie was pretty amazing but the security guard in the last third of the movie really tied it together. When he said "pretty fast for an old guy" I got chills. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Honestly not sure so many are critical of this one; I do agree with most that it's a slow burn, and that it runs a bit long for the story. But it's a good plot, has good acting, and is suspenseful in a new and refreshing way. Mind you it's not remarkable; The pace holds it back from that. But it passed the time and was good enough I came back and watched it a second time. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review don s Super slow metaphysical drama billed as supernatural thriller. Danny Glover overplays the role of a man who is seeing things happen again thirty years after they happened the first time. He's too frenetic, and he should have been arrested for stalking an 11 yr old girl. Bruce Greenwood, on the other hand, underplays his role as cop to the point it felt like he was sleepwalking through the story. Not well made enough to keep my interest. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I love Danny Glover anyway, and he was his usual great self in this thought inspiring movie.
