A team of space marines known as the Rapid Response Tactical Squad, led by Sarge (Karl Urban), is sent to a science facility on Mars after somebody reports a security breach. There, they learn that the alert came after a test subject, a mass murderer purposefully injected with alien DNA, broke free and began killing people. Dr. Grimm (Rosamund Pike), who is related to team member Reaper (The Rock), informs them all that the chromosome can mutate humans into monsters -- and is highly infectious.

Carson P Dwayne the rock Johnson acts in this movie as if he is constantly P$$$$$ off at people constantly annoying him too much excessive swearing 🤬 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and obnoxious dialogue dumbs down doom into being an assault and attack to intelligence nearly the same way as the uwe boll stinker alone in the dark while it’s not quite as atrociously messy as the boll film it’s still as bad a video game adaptation as it can get just like resident evil it has poor lighting, lousy CGI effects, junky production values that make it look like it was originally supposed to come out in the late 80s and the cinematography is so disorienting that I nearly became dizzy and felt like I had a crack. I know this isn’t his fault and that the rock is generally a nice guy in real life but this was a bad start for him to move from wrestling to acting ( being an action star ) his performance is so over the top nasty and he overacts in an irritated tone almost like he knew this was going to be bad but. Did he just want money or something everyone else is chewing scenery in their generic millitary soldier roles. Even The action is also uninspired and generic I wanted to fall asleep every time they constantly sneak which this is pretty much what’s going on in the whole movie even that video game shooter scene before the final fight didn’t save it for me in the end outside of a few unintentionally hilarious moments involving the rock swearing in his overperformance this movie fell flat completely. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/05/25 Full Review Audience Member If you liked the original Resident Evil movies your gonna like this. Seems like A LOT of these are reviews from non gamer and non doom fans. My wife just watched it for the first time and didn't know anything about doom and she loved it. This is also back before The Rock had such strick rules like the one that says he can't ever lose a fight. Makes for a more intense and unexpecting experience. Would definitely recommend. Even from being from 2005 there is a good mix of digital and practical effects. Good gamer homage scene in there too! True gamer review would be an 8/10. One of the top critic reviews said the movie is about playing games and why would gamers want to do that SMH. Evidence these "top critic" reviews arnt very genuine. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/25 Full Review Audience Member This movie is awesome and the ratings here are criminal Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/25 Full Review Greger G Just pure entertaining "hell yeah!" movie. If you like the expendables movies or predator for example you are going to love this movie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/25 Full Review Alex H Ok so see people asking why it is marked down as poor well for me I played the original doom game back in 93 and it was always one man and his guns go to mow down some demons until you get too doom 3 where they decided to make it a squad game and this is where the film comes in the based doom film on doom3 so for me it just doesn’t work nothing against the actors huge rock fan but it’s a thumbs down for me Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/18/24 Full Review Stephen H Don’t understand why this movie is rated so poorly.
